About Maryland's 5th District

Maryland's 5th congressional district includes all of Charles, St. Mary's, and Calvert counties, as well as portions of Prince George's and Anne Arundel counties.

We have a diverse geography, and urban, suburban and rural spaces. Our district includes towns and cities like Odenton, Crofton, Bowie, Waldorf, Chesapeake Beach, Upper Marlboro, Prince Fredrick, St. Mary's City. We have numerous unincorporated areas, communities and neighborhoods of all sizes. We are located between the Potomac and Patuxent rivers and all of our watersheds connect into the Chesapeake Bay. We are diverse, more than 1 in 10 of us was born outside of the US. Over 38% of us identify as Black or African American, and nearly 10% of us identify as Hispanic or Latino. We speak English, Spanish, Yoruba, Tagalog and many other languages at home. Many of us commute (or used to) to Washington DC, our military bases or federal institutions, but we work in every conceivable field, from farming to nursing, teaching to manufacturing and food service to banking.
